Stephen Kettle was born
in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham in 1966 and now lives with his wife
and two children in West London.
Stephen has followed his own artistic path, initially painting in
mixed media and later turned his attentions to sculpture. His unique
ability to create sculptures in stacked slate formations led to
the first ever life sized slate statue which is now permanently
housed in the Science Museum in London.
His range is from miniature to monumental and his latest major piece
is a statue of the wartime code breaker, Alan Turing for Bletchley
Park. The sculpture is made of approx. half a million individual
pieces of Welsh slate and was unveiled this summer. The sculpture has attracted a lot of media attention and is to be featured on a Royal Mail stamp later this year. Morley Contemporary is pleased to be the sole commercial gallery dealing with Stephen Kettle's non-commisioned work. |
